Question 1

What is the difficulty level of the Rock Line trek, and what physical fitness is required to participate?

Accepted Answer

The Rock Line is rated as 'advanced' difficulty, spanning 9 days with several high-altitude passes (e.g., Zabalala Pass at 4700m, Songduo Pass at 4700m). Participants are required to have excellent cardiovascular fitness and trekking experience, as well as the ability to adapt to high-altitude environments. We recommend regular physical training such as long-distance running or mountaineering before departure to prepare for prolonged trekking and high-altitude challenges. Individuals with medical conditions unsuitable for high-altitude activities, such as high blood pressure or heart disease, should not register.

Question 2

What safety measures are in place during the trip, and are the team leaders professionally qualified?

Accepted Answer

Your safety is our top priority. We provide a professional leader and support staff ratio of 1:4, and all leaders possess extensive outdoor experience and first-aid qualifications. Emergency equipment is provided throughout the trip, and specialized outdoor sports accident insurance is included. In areas with signal coverage, leaders will maintain communication using satellite phones or walkie-talkies. In case of an emergency, we will activate our contingency plan to ensure a rapid response and proper handling. Please strictly follow the leader's instructions to collectively ensure the safety of the team.

Question 3

What personal equipment do I need to prepare for the trek? Is equipment rental available?

Accepted Answer

You will need to prepare personal equipment suitable for high-altitude trekking, including but not limited to: high-top waterproof hiking boots, waterproof and windproof jacket and pants, warm clothing (down jacket/fleece), trekking poles, headlamp, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), personal toiletries, and common medications. We provide shared equipment such as 150L duffel bags, single tents, and egg-crate sleeping pads, so you do not need to bring these yourself. Currently, we do not offer personal equipment rental services. We recommend that you prepare all required personal gear in advance to ensure a comfortable and safe trekking experience.

Question 4

What are the accommodation and dining arrangements during the trip? Are there options for special dietary needs?

Accepted Answer

The trip includes 9 nights of accommodation. City stays (Lijiang, Lugu Lake, Shangri-La Town) will be in comfortable hotels, while trekking segments (Baishui River, Manzuo Niu Farm, Zabalala Pass Camp, Xinguo Niu Farm, Snake Lake Camp) will involve high-altitude camping with single tents and egg-crate sleeping pads. For dining, city segments offer meals at local restaurants, and trekking segments provide breakfast and dinner at camp, along with packed lunches for midday, ensuring adequate energy supply. If you have special dietary requirements such as vegetarianism or allergies, please inform us in advance during registration. We will do our best to accommodate, though options may be limited due to the high-altitude environment.

Question 5

What is the best season to undertake the Rock Line trek? What happens if there is bad weather?

Accepted Answer

The best seasons for the Rock Line trek are typically spring and autumn, specifically April-May and September-October. During these periods, the weather is relatively stable, with less rainfall and pleasant scenery. While summer (July-August) has higher temperatures, it also experiences more rain, which might affect the trekking experience. Winter (November-March) is generally unsuitable for trekking due to heavy snow blocking the trails. In case of severe weather, the leader will adjust the itinerary based on actual conditions, possibly taking alternative routes or waiting in safe areas to ensure team safety. In extreme circumstances, parts of the itinerary might be canceled with corresponding refunds.

Question 6

If I register alone, can I share a room? Are there any additional costs for single participants?

Accepted Answer
